Turner Mk3 - commissioned painting
Turner Sports Cars were a small British manufacturer that produced a series of sports cars and specials between 1949 and 1966. With a very stiff chassis and light fibreglass body the car handled very well and made very successful competition cars - of the 670 built over 300 survive.
The pretty car featured in this commission is a 1963 Mark 3 which was fitted with the optional BMC 'A' series engine.
The composition of the painting was inspired by period advertising and features the front, side and rear elevations.
The painting is A4 in size and executed in Oils onto an Aluminium panel. A line drawing of the chassis which is etched into the Aluminium was taken from a period Turner brochure.
The areas representing the car's brightwork which have been polished and subtly catch the light.
